Assistant Administrator for Asia
Nisha Desai Biswal was confirmed as USAID’s Assistant Administrator for Asia September 16, 2010. She previously served as the Majority Clerk for the State Department and Foreign Operations Subcommittee on the Appropriations Committee for the House of Representatives. Prior to her position on the Hill, she was Director for Policy and Advocacy at InterAction. Prior to that, she worked on South and Central Asia policy and State Department and USAID oversight for the House of Representatives International Relations Committee. She also previously worked at USAID, as Special Assistant to the Administrator in OFDA and OTI, and as Chief of Staff in the Management Bureau. Ms. Biswal also worked for the American Red Cross.
