On Tuesday and Wednesday, more than thirty representatives of USGLC member organizations took part in House and Senate lobby meetings on Capitol Hill.  The purpose of the meetings was to encourage Senators and Representatives to sign on to a bipartisan letter to President Obama urging him to request a robust funding level next year for the International Affairs Budget. The participants represented USGLC’s diverse membership from the business, NGO, and faith-based communities and met with 30 House offices and 16 Senate offices.  Already those meetings are bearing fruit, with some of those offices joining the letter.  A total of 90 Members – 31 Senators and 59 Representatives – have signed onto the letter so far.  But we need the support of many more by next Wednesday (11/25) –the deadline for Members to sign on. This is the eighth year in a row the USGLC has led this effort on Capitol Hill. Last year 217 House and Senate Members signed the letter.
