Marking the Bill
The markup of the Kerry-Lugar-Menendez-Corker initial aid reform bill, S.1524 is set for today at 2:15PM in S-116 of the Capitol. It appears there will be a manager’s amendment; other proposed amendments include standard reporting requirements, which would require all agencies engaged in development work to apply common standards when measuring development activities and outcomes. The committee will also be voting on both Jose Fernandez, nominee for Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs; and Daniel Yohannes, nominee for MCC CEO. Finally, the confirmation hearing of Dr. Rajiv Shah to be USAID Administrator has been scheduled for Dec. 1.
