Millennium Challenge Corporation CEO-designate Daniel Yohannes appeared before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on November 3 for his confirmation hearing. In his opening statement he stated, “Smart development assistance that delivers results must be the foundation of effective U.S. global engagement…And this is fundamental to enhancing our collective security and common humanity for a more prosperous, peaceful world.” If confirmed by December 9th, Mr. Yohannes will be able to attend the Board meeting where the MCC will decide on FY10 country eligibility decisions. Mr. Yohannes was seventeen when he arrived in the United States from Ethiopia, and has since become a successful businessman, entrepreneur, and community leader.
