Last week, a strong bipartisan group of 10 Senators and 10 Representatives circulated “Dear Colleague” letters in both chambers urging their fellow Members of Congress to sign-on to a letter to the President in support of a robust FY11 International Affairs Budget. The letters are being led by Sens. John Kerry (D-MA), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), and Richard Lugar (R-IN) in the Senate and by Reps. Howard Berman (D-CA) and Mark Kirk (R-IL) in the House.  This week, USGLC members are mobilizing in support of these letters to ensure as many Members of Congress sign on.

Last year, a similar letter to then President-elect Obama was signed by 217 Members of Congress, including 51 Senators. This year, we are hopeful we can exceed last year’s signatories and send a strong message that greater investments in the International Affairs Budget are essential to ensure America has the smart power tools of diplomacy and development to meet our national security and foreign policy goals.

Urge your Members of Congress to sign on.
