Director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Thomas Frieden directs the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the nation’s lead public health agency. In addition to his role in domestic health issues, global health centers will look to Frieden for leadership on global health policy, especially as it relates to controlling epidemics and preventing the spread of disease. Frieden has worked for the CDC in the past, and also served as Commissioner at the New York City Department of Health. As of 11/12/09
