As the Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs, Lael Brainard will advise the Secretary of the Treasury on international economic issues and lead the development of U.S. economic policies in a number of areas, including international finance, debt, and post-crisis economic stabilization.  Brainard will also represent the U.S. at the IMF, World Bank, and development banks such as the Inter-American Development Bank and the African Development Bank.  Most recently, Brainard served as a Senior Fellow and Founding Director of the Global Economy and Development Program at the Brookings Institution. During the Clinton administration, Brainard served as deputy assistant to the president for International Economic Policy. As of 11/12/09
